There are many different difficulties we can experience nowadays, anxiety, depression, addiction and anger issues are a few that affect us. Sometimes we need a helping hand to deal with these difficult feelings or behaviours. Psychotherapy is of great benefit to help us through these issues.

Walk and Talk Counselling Dublin

Within therapy there are many different ways to proceed and Walk and Talk Therapy is a very positive step for many reasons.

From my own experience and the many studies that have been done, therapy conducted while walking allows for more productive sessions and a better understanding of oneself. For anybody who has never been to therapy, this would be a very proactive start and for people who have been before and did not find therapy helpful, this different approach could open up doors for you that regular therapy could not.

Walk and Talk Therapy FAQ

What is the cost and how long are sessions?

One hour session is for 70 Euro.

How does Walk & Talk work?

When we meet in the park we walk beside each other for an hour and from there it is very similar to regular therapy.
What if the weather is bad ? I have a lot of rain gear with me and a good umberella, however we can go to the office in Crumlin in very bad weather. In the last year we only had to go to the office on two occasions because of bad weather.

Do I have to be fit?

No. We walk at the pace that suits you best. This is also wheelchair friendly.

Is this different from regular therapy?

No. Only in that we will be walking instead of sitting in the office.

Is Phil an accredited psychotherapist?

Yes, I am accredited with the IACP.

Do I need to be fit?

No. This is not about fitness, this is about using walking and nature to enhance the experience of psychotherapy.

What type of psychotherapeutic model do you work from?

I would have a very broad approach to therapy, but I believe that it is my job to help each person through their difficulties in the best way that suits them. I strongly believe that each one of us are the only one who has the clear answers to our life situation and I help people find those answers.

How long are the sessions?

1 hour

How long does it take to experience improvement in the issues I’m struggling with?

It will vary from person to person. It is a suggestion to give any type of therapy a go for six weeks and then to talk to the therapist about how the therapy is going for you.

What happens if the weather is bad?

I will have extra rain gear with me in the event of bad weather or you can bring your own. The different types of weather may have a positive effect on the work we will be doing together. Alternatively we can rearrange the appointment at the office.

Is this better than the ordinary therapy?

We are all very different people and when it comes to dealing with our difficulties in life it is our job to find the method that suits us best. A bit like the old saying “different strokes for different folks”

What psychotherapeutic model do you work from?

I practice as a pluralistic therapist which means that I work collaboratively with you to find the best method of therapy that will suit your needs.
